CRISIS INTERVENTION PROGRAM

FOCUS
Stopover focuses on understanding and responding to the needs of young people and their families. We believe in services to adolescents that are family-centered, emphasis on the strengths and positive attributes of the family, focusing on the needs of the youth and the family, emphasis on appropriate roles and responsibilities for all family members, keeping parents in charge of their families, and helping families help themselves.

PHILOSOPHY
With the Stopover Crisis Intervention Program, we strive to help our clients draw a “complete picture” of their situation. This goal is accomplished by providing support and assistance needed to alleviate the difficulties being experiences by all family members during this critical and volatile period. We offer hope to families who are feeling hopeless by providing support to the natural desire of families to live together. We work to relate to people on their terms and to insure that their needs shape the kind of help they receive.

TRANSITIONAL LIVING PROGRAM

FOCUS
The Stopover Transitional Living Program is focused on providing the tools necessary for the young people in the program to move from homelessness to having appropriate living arrangements with an increased knowledge of community resources, experiences in community services, education, training, and employment that will help them to be self sufficient. Services will be highly individualized with the case manager helping each youth create an individual transitional plan based on an assessment of the youth’s needs. This plan will be designed to help the transition from supervised to independent living.

PHILOSOPHY
The Stopover Transitional Living Program (TLP) is the first Transitional Living Program in Indianapolis that will accept both male and female youth not involved in the foster care system.

The TLP program will allow youth to prepare for independence, move from the structured group environment to independent living, have after care, and a mutual support system. The program will produce young adults who are prepared to be constructive and productive members of the community.
